5. Street Sense (街頭意識)!

5.   Street Sense!
Starting from this month, we will be introducing an organization/association per month in our newsletter. You could donate or pray for them. This initiative introduced by Activity/Outreach group is to encourage us all to participate actively in helping any kind of ministries in which Jesus would not hesitate to lend His hands.

The first organization to kick off the series is Street Sense, a bi-weekly newspaper that seeks to “offer economic opportunities for people experiencing homelessness in our community through a newspaper that elevates voices and encourages debate on poverty and injustice”.

Street Sense vendors pay 35 cents for each paper to cover publishing costs and then sell each paper for $1. The newspaper features news, features, editorials, poems and art about homelessness and poverty and other social issues. About 50% of the paper is written by homeless and formerly homeless individuals.

These vendors could be found in Metro stations area or some public places. They wear yellow vests with the writing “Street Sense”. For each newspaper they sell, they can earn 65 cents. This may be a better way to encourage them to take their first steps towards improved lives. Your $1 could go a long way for them.

Prayer Requests
1.    Brother Chaujun just finished stomach-tubing surgery on Tuesday, after being moved from the care center (hospice) to the hospital. This was only possible with God’s grace and blessings, as Brother Chaujun had previously not really eaten, was very weak, and did not relieve himself for a total of twenty days. On Monday, he finally got the strength to swallow, and was able to receive the proper, necessary care from the hospice. A good friend from Texas has also flown to VA, and has prayed by Brother Chaujun’s side for two straight nights. Brother Chaujun is now back at the hospice center after resting up for one night at the hospital. He is well, relatively speaking. Continue to pray for his health, for Sister Jingmann, for their family, and for continuing support through prayer and anything else that can be provided. May God continue to show us and Brother Chaujun His way!

2.    On 3/11 Japan faces the greatest disaster in their country’s history, a combination of earthquakes, a tsunami, nuclear power plant explosion, and an erupting volcano. May all brothers and sisters unite with the world in prayer, may the Lord use this disaster to show His power, so that the world may see that God is real and His glory. For those who would like to donate to the disaster relief, please see the following links:

Scripture Reading: Daniel 9:1-23

In the Book of Daniel, we can see from the Prophet Daniel’s prayers that he is a pious man who knows God well.

1.     In Daniel 9:1-23, Daniel prays for Jerusalem and Israel. Based on Daniel’s prayers, give examples of his perspectives on God.

2.     Recall your prayers in the past week or month. Based on your prayers, what is your understanding of God?

Continued from above:
I have a spelling checker, it came with my PC.It plainly marks for my review, mistakes I do not see. I strike a key and type a word, and wait it for it to sayWhether I am wrong or right, it shows me straight away.I’ve sent this message through it, and I’m sure you’re pleased to know Its letter prefect in every way; My checker told me so.
