HELLO~ ALIFERS!! I miss you guys a lot and the Chipotle too haha :P… Happy Holidays!! How’s everyone there? Who are coming back in Christmas? LET ME KNOW, I WILL FEED YOU WITH GOOD FOODS!!  Angela

(First response): Ok, let me think for couple of days… give me a heads up! (Second response, after the heads up): Leave some leftover for me!!!!!

Christopher Yuan: (After a thank-you email) Thanks for your email and words of encouragement. I found your website via Google Alerts. I am given several emails a day whenever my name (English or Chinese) occurs on the internet. It is a way for me to keep track of what is out there on the internet, especially since I speak on a very controversial subject!

But your post was very encouraging so thanks! We surely serve an awesome God! Also, thanks for your prayer request (health). In addition, please be praying for our book. It is quite a bit of work and it is hard for me to balance teaching at Moody, speaking/traveling and working on my book. It is almost too much, especially with my health!

But we really believe that this is a necessary book for right now and for Chinese! Thanks for your prayers. Have a great day in the Lord!  Undeserving of His Grace, Christopher Yuan

C.         “Give us today our daily bread.”

Prayer Requests
1.    Praise God for Brother Chaujun’s testimony on Thanksgiving at church! However, his neck pain is still in need of our prayers. This week Brother Chaujun went to see the doctor on pain management. The doctor prescribed a medicine that focuses on nerve pain. We hope this medicine will relieve his pain greatly, so please put this in your prayers. Please also pray for his appointment next Thursday, as well as the second visit on 12/15. May God’s abundant love fill those who depend on Him, and may our prayers be pleasing to God’s plan.

2.    Please continue to pray for Sister Mannwen’s family. Uncle Lin’s memorial will take place these days, and Mr. Ko will be flying back for three days to attend. Pray that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

3.    Let us pray for our Co-Worker’s Meeting on January 15, 2011. May God lead the direction of Abundant Life fellowship in the new year, touch our hearts, and elect new leaders accordingly to His ways.

4.    Jean Wu needs to send in her European Schegen visa application soon, but she hasn’t received her green card renewal receipt, which may result in rejection from the Malta embassy. Please pray for a speedy delivery of the receipt number to her, so that the visa application can be a success!

Homework
Scripture Reading: Exodus 16

1.   In the Lord’s Prayer, Matthew 6:11 writes, “Give us today our daily bread.” Lord Jesus taught us to first pray for God’s kingdom and God’s will. Right after as we pray for individual needs, the first issue in prayer is food, which shows us how much God cares about our daily meals.

A.  However, didn’t Jesus said do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” (Matthew 6:31) In the bible, it also records that the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). Wouldn’t God’s words be contradicting in this way? Please explain.

B.  “Give us today our daily bread.” Why is our daily meals God given? Isn’t it by my own sweat and blood that I have food to eat? Why so?

C.  “Give us today our daily bread.” Why did Jesus repeatedly mention “today” and “daily”? Why did he stress “today”? What is the lesson He is teaching us?

D.  Why did Jesus continue to mention “us” and “our”? What is the lesson He wants us to learn here? Why isn’t it “me”?

E.  What is the meaning of bread?

2.      From Exodus 16, God rain down manna to the Israelites in the dessert. Through Moses, God also gave them the rules of gathering manna. What is the spiritual lesson we must learn from here?
