The Search for Peace

Monday, March 10th, 2008

What did Christ’s work on the cross accomplish for us?

Through the Cross, the Triune God accomplished peace and reconciliation for our sakes. Here’s how he did it:

  • Through the Cross, God initiated peace
  • Through the Cross, the Holy Spirit makes that peace real
  • Through the Cross, Jesus is the means of that peace

This message was based on Romans 5:1-11.

Elaine’s Prayer Letter

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Elaine Chang will be headed to China in late March. Here’s her official prayer letter. Please download it and keep her in your prayers.

As a church, this is a great opportunity to see one of our own being sent to do gospel work. It is our responsibility and joy to support her financially. But as she mentions in her newsletter, what she needs now is our prayers and intercession. In your private prayers, please have Elaine at the top of your list. In your respective small groups, please remember her in your corporate prayers. It is our hope that Elaine will be used effectively is spreading the gospel in word and deed and that she would be continually shaped with a gospel sized vision for the rest of her life.

The Cross Centered Life

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

We will be doing a short series called the “Cross Centered Life” leading up to Good Friday and Easter. This sermon is based on Romans 3:21-26.

What did Jesus dying on the cross accomplish for us?

Since the essence of sin is humankind substituting in the place of God, the essence of salvation is God substituting himself for us. (Stott)

By dying on the cross, Jesus serves as a substitute: (1) a substitute performer (2) a substitute punishment

Listen to find out what all this means…
