Conversation with Paul and Kim Lueders

One area which we’d like to improve upon is to keep our congregation connected to the missionaries and ministries we support as a church. Paul and Kim Lueders are missionaries to Zambia with Every Orphan’s Hope. Last week, they stopped by for a visit and they agreed for our conversation to be videotaped. If you are interested in learning more about their ministry, they left behind some brochures with me. If you want to get more involved, they also have prayer cards and opportunities to financially support the orphans they minister to. Let me know if you would be interested.

[Update] Here’s their latest update from the newsletter, “Step by Step”.

Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty. Zechariah 4:6. Be still and know I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10. Those two scripture verses have become like the air we breathe. No matter how hard we work, or how much we accomplish if we don’t ask the Lord to move among his people we can’t accomplish anything. And as we pray for the moving of his spirit sometimes there is a long wait. That’s when the, be still and know I am God comes in. Our nature is to work harder, do more, make to do lists and then check them off. It can be frustrating to not be able to “muscle” through our lists. It’s painful to just wait and be still. One of the things we’ve learned about all of this is it’s better to have the Holy Spirit go before us, it’s definitely worth the wait and it’s always better than we imagined. It’s what has kept us in the field this past year and what will sustain us in the years to come. It gives us hope.
House #9 in Chongwe should be open by the first of the year. Our staff in Zambia covets your prayers as they make final decisions about the mother and the children who will live in the house. We also have two new children in house #3 in Lusaka, Patrick (12) and Ronan (10) we praise God for them. For us it seems unfathomable that a child would not know their families or the day they were born, but this is the case with Patrick and Ronan and so many of the other orphans. It truly is heart breaking. Pray for Patrick and Ronan that they would adjust to living in My Father’s House quickly and for Mama Juliet and the other kids. Knowing Mama Juliet we have no doubt that she loves them already.
Planning for our summer interns and short-term trips are now in full swing. It’s hard to believe in just 8 months we will be experiencing the laughter of 300 orphans per camp as they get to know the short-term missionaries. That thought brings smiles to our faces as well as tears to our eyes. We’re thankful that we have a big God, because we’ve set some pretty big goals. Five camps which means; 1,500 orphans will hear the gospel, 15,000 meals served, it may be the one and only time a child will be fed a complete meal or will eat five days in a row! 1,500 t-shirts, bandanas and nametags, 22,500 crafts. It will cost $50,000 to fund all five camps and at least 100 short termers who will give up two weeks to follow Christ to Zambia and be his hands and feet. It’s overwhelming to think about. Will you join us in prayer over Camp Hope? And will you go and or give?

The Lord has been so good to us and has sustained us through your prayers and financial support. However over the past year, our level of support has dramatically decreased. Currently we are short in excess of $2,500 per month. Will you help close this gap?

There are several ways that you can help.
• If you are a current donor would you consider increasing your current level of support?
• If you have not been able to support us to this point would you consider supporting us on a monthly or a one-time basis?
• Consider sending an end of year gift.
• Refer us to others who would be interested in supporting us.

We are so thankful for so much but most of all for a God who loves us and has called us to work alongside of him to care for the orphans of Zambia. We don’t do this alone, each of you make it possible for us to do this ministry and we thank God!

God Bless,
Paul & Kim
